As fate would have it, I was in need of a change in direction with my life. I stumbled across an idea in my head that became such a driving force to take the leap that I jumped. And so I am here…..
Using my love for the strange beauty in antiquated items, I have decided to share the thoughts I have on the Dark Decadence style. Not only to allow myself a platform to review my ideas for my new home, but to show my family and friends what they can do with some of the amazing things they’ve found and broaden their creative mind.
I have always enjoyed the rare and unusual. And as my life continued to press forward through the years, my taste began to refine itself. I began to replace the mass-manufactured and kitschy with the odd and intricately designed.
My homes throughout the years reflected this change, and I have now fully embraced all things antique and decorative. The challenge for me in this stage was learning to repurpose items that could no longer serve their original use and continue to use those that could as they were meant to be.
Every architectural style, from Classical to the Parametrical we see today, can be found converged in my living space. I am an eclectic and utilize those facets of the time’s trends that I enjoy most to make my place, as my friends call it, a museum.
Personally, I have always enjoyed being invited in to see how someone decorates their home. I feel it is an extension of their personality and tells me a lot about them that can’t be observed through normal means. Both good and bad.
I love the unique homes, that always seem to stuff their corners with vignettes and little pockets of intrigue that can fill the space. The items chosen are often times pulled together with such care and are curated throughout the years. My eyes tend to draw themselves towards these tiny capsules of interest.
Cookie-cutter homes were never my thing, as I believed the characteristics of the owner showed they did not have very much individuality, or that they struggled to express themselves freely. I want to see YOU in your home.
I have been gifted amazing, artisan friends that create and decorate with such panache that I always have something new to spy in their places. These beautiful souls have also gifted me with permission to interview them about their skills and style and to show you snippets of their fashionable homes.
And I can’t wait to share it with you.
